As Head of the Chemistry and Pharmaceuticals Group, Amanda specialises in pharmaceutical and medtech inventions, including anti-microbials, re-purposed drugs, formulations, medical sensors and devices. Her expertise also spans broader chemical technologies such as sugar chemistry and alloys. She is particularly experienced in advising startup companies on developing and protecting their IP portfolios.

Amanda is known for her pragmatic approach to IP strategy and portfolio management. She represents clients in high-profile opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office, with a strong track record in defending key pharmaceutical patents, including those relating to sofosbuvir, Mozobil and eculizumab. She also has extensive experience in oppositions involving blood coagulation therapies, dialysis technologies and wound healing innovations.

In addition to her UK client base, Amanda works closely with clients in China and makes regular visits to stay abreast of legal developments in the region.
