Role
- Drafting Patent applications, including studying and analysing scientific or technical documents, including prior art documents to understand, define and document an invention.
- Training under a European Patent Attorney to the standard required for sitting professional qualification examinations.
- Responding to examination reports, including analysing objections from patent examiners and prior art documents, formulating an opinion and proposing legal and technical argumentation and/or amendments to overcome objections.
- Performing preliminary patentability searches using patent databases and providing patentability opinions.
- Providing patent advice to inventors and business leaders.
- Providing advice on patent litigation that may include assisting solicitors and counsel in infringement cases.
- Preparation of applications for registration of designs.
- Preparing freedom to operate opinions.
- Advising clients in respect of patent licencing/assignments and preparation of applications for recordal of licences/assignments.
- Keeping up to date with legal developments in the intellectual property field in respect of all forms of intellectual property rights.
- Ensuring client, official and patent renewal deadlines are observed.
- Ensuring accuracy of internal database records and deadlines.
